Our Story

Span of Denton County

“Since 1974, Span, Inc. has enabled people in Denton County to live as fully and independently as possible by providing transportation, nutrition, and social services to older adults, individuals with disabilities, veterans and the general public.  Span’s primary service programs are public transportation and senior nutrition (reference www.mowdc.org).  

 

Program Summaries:

  • Transportation Services: Span operates as the Designated Rural Transportation Provider in Denton County. We serve the residents of Denton County, by appointment, who live outside of the Denton/Lewisville corridor.  Separately, Span operates under contract with client cities including Coppell, Flower Mound, Little Elm and The Colony to provide service for senior citizens and people with disabilities, also by appointment.

*All Span vehicles are accessible and equipped with either a ramp (minivan) or wheelchair lift (minibus).  Annually Span performs over 65,000 trips and serves approximately 1,500 unduplicated clients.”

  • Meals on Wheels: hot, nutritious noon meals delivered to home-bound seniors and persons with disabilities.

  • Congregate (group) lunches: at various locations throughout Denton County

  • Nutrition education: an important service of both meals programs 

  • Senior Paws: Monthly pet food to home-bound clients who can’t afford it and might otherwise share their home-delivered meals with their pets through our Senior Paws program
